AMERICANISM COMMITTEE

THANK YOU to all of our members and local community who donated school supplies to be sent to our military in Kosovo. These supplies will be distributed by our troops, who are volunteering their free time teaching leadership, tolerance and life skills, to the children in Kosovo. We sent 14 boxes containing a total of 197 lbs of school supplies, including crayons, pens, pencils, glue, calculators, rulers, markers, paper, erasers, sharpeners and other items. This act of kindness will allow our military to share in the joy of giving during this Holiday Season. There are 139 entries competing in the Americanism Essay Contest, from over 400 that were written locally. We are in the process of reviewing essays received from 5th and 6th graders attending Frog Pond Elementary School, LBI Grade School, Robert L. Horbelt Elementary School, and Stafford Intermediate School, and essays received from 7th and 8th graders attending Southern Regional Middle School. Three winners from each Division, 5th-6th grades and 7th-8th grades, will be announced in early 2016. The three winners from each Division will be forwarded to the District in February 2016, for further competition.
